this novel is a satire(as swift is known for)In the letter of captain
Gulliver to his cousin sympson we find a technique. It is actually the
protection of swift. He tries to show that many of the things which
Gulliver likely said is wrongly edited by the publisher. The letter is
enough to create suspense in the reader to think it as a real
story. The first voyage in comparison with the other voyages is much
less harsher as far as the intensity of satire is concerned.Cause most
of the satires here are allegorical. The satires are ona particular
historical figure. There are not much generalizations of satire on
mankind. And another reason is the telescopic view of life. After all Lilliputians are six inches tall, not a monster. So suggestive satire on
them is not likely to be much bitter,so fearful to us.But the first
voyage is not totally devoid generalization of satire.Gulliver is
tempted to crush the people(6inches tall)when they are walking beside him.It is a satire on human instinct and its bitter. Then heroes on
to satirize the political internal and external problems.Which refers to
the historical allegory of England Of contemporary time. The main point
which this first voyage suggests is about our view of life.we human
beings have limitation and yet we pride with our litte knowledge, wealth
and possession. The universe is vast but yet we show in our vain pride
our trust. This is wrong conception of life and all the endeavor of
swift is to show this trth to the readier.(the details of historical
allegory are intentionally avoided)]]
