My view of Iago in Othello now I am going to say.I think Iago shows how
it is possible for even a highly intellectually equipped character to do
bad things.you can compare him with that BUET student who plucked his
wife's eyes.Actually,Shakespeare tries to show in this play the superiority of human nature.Unless you reach the core of your
consciousness you can never say what you are. Here Othello and Iago both are unaware of themselves .Iago just
have increased his intellectuality and as i have said this does not
certify his nature. On the other hand Othello did not know that in him
there is a germ of jealousy.Shylock using his intellectuality just
brings out this hidden quality of Othello.I think for a similar reason Tagore said"শূধু তোমায় বাণী নয় হেবন্ধু হে প্রিয় মাঝে মাঝে প্রাণে তোমার
পরশ খানি দিও"over all this play shows how unaware human being are about
themselves.(may be not reverent take it as my view that the solution of
this human nature has long ago been given by the Indian philosophers as
সচ্চিদানন্দ(সত্ চিত্ আনন্দ) that is in the core of human consciousness
there is good ,there is life and there is delight.Unless you have
realized that thing you never know whether you are Iago or Othello.you
are not what you are! )
